This is the first set of bloopers we are posting. The idea came up in Episode 6 and I did a test with that episode. I listened to what I had and decided to modify the format a bit to get the product you hear here.
In the end our process works like this. Everything starts with a live recording session. The raw audio from that gets processed and good usable material gets divided into three products, each with decreasing production effort. The material that best tells the story or makes the point will go into the actual Episode for which it was recorded. The iLapdance episodes get the lion share of the effort in post.
Good material that is redundant or causes a running time problem will go into the Extras show for that episode. Extras get some attention in that I try to make the material listenable and present it in order. There is not any attempt to make a coherent narrative flow however. In most cases you’ll need to hear the Episode itself to fully understand the Extras.
Bloopers are material that is completely unusable for one reason or another. Often they are mistakes or just funny asides that may not even have anything to do with the show. They receive little or no post production effort at all as the material isn’t usable in a show format anyway. Roxie loves the bloopers more than I ever expected, and it was really her consistent prompting that finally convinced me to give it a try.
So there it is. At iLapdance we don’t waste anything. We use as much of the original live recording as we possibly can. By presenting the material in three distinct products I think the actual show is served best. At the same time these divisions give our members who want either more of a certain topic, or more of Roxie and me just being ourselves, access to the material they want.
